Why did we create OrlandoGotSoul? For a few simple reasons. The love of real music, the search for what’s real, relevant, and authentic; and the chance to give back to our communities. We got tired of attending events and functions with no soul, passion, and purpose. We got tired of originality being sidelined and creativity not being rewarded. Like you, we understand the importance of creativity, diversity, and authenticity, and the value it adds to a city. Now we choose to take a stand. We hope to make this website a  representation of what’s real about Orlando. All issues will be covered; from Music to the Arts, Education to Diversity, and most importantly the People!If its original we will cover it.

Where is the Soul of Orlando you may ask? It’s in you! If there is no culture, add your piece of culture, if you can’t find what you are looking for in the city, create it and share with others in the community. This website is a community for people from all walks of life who have a true passion for originality and culture, and refuse to compromise the essential part of their consciousness. That is Soul!

Soul is Stax and Motown; Harlem, Chicago, Philadelphia, and New Orleans. Soul is global from England to South Africa, France to Jamaica. Soul is James Brown doing a full split, jumping up and belting out “Please, Please.” Soul is Don Cornelius on Soul Train with his booming voice and bright colored suit. It’s Frank Sinatra serenading a city “New York, New York.” It’s Bob Marley singing No Woman No Cry, Freddie Mercury belting out the notes of the Bohemian Rhapsody. Soul makes you move your feet, laugh, think, and cry. It’s the passing of the torch from Marvin Gaye to Maxwell. It’s the music of the 90s beautifully sculpted by Babyface. It’s a salsa beat passed on from Hector Lavoe to Marc Anthony. Soul is Aventura walking on stage and instantly 5000 women lose their minds …and that’s before Romeo has even sang a note, then he takes off his jacket, swings his hips to a pulsating bachata beat and another 5000 women lose their voices. Soul is Muhammad Ali and Usain Bolt, power! Spike Lee in Do The Right Thing. It’s the ageless beauty of Tina Turner, or the original style of Nina Simone. Soul is Jimi Hendrix with a guitar. I believe we all get it now but 1 more example will suffice; Soul is Michael Jackson in Japan performing for almost 500,000 people who do not speak English…..and they sing every line of every song, word for word. Soul connects in ways that nothing else can.
